Swiss-based businessman and Nicolae Buzaianu had threatened a 100 million Dollars legal action against the Zambian government. Dr Buzaianu, who is former Zambian Deputy permanent delegate to UNESCO but reluctantly resigned his post in order to continue his work in restoring old churches. Buzaianu says his action relating to the alleged gold scam, in which he has also been implicated but now has been cleared of all allegations. He has stated that he has since instructed his lawyer, Sakwiba Sikota to dismiss the suit against the government over the matter on claims that he has been defamed. Investigators learned that Dr Buzaianu also had no connections to 2 Swiss companies, which allegedly bought the gold. And speaking through Mr Sikota, Dr Buzaianu is dropping his suit against all news media organisations, which carried stories on the alleged gold scam.
